INEC’s 2027 List: PDP Raises Concern Over Missing Governorship Candidates

By Khalid Idris Doya

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resolve the omission of some of its governorship candidates from the commission’s final list of candidates for the 2027 elections.

The party’s reaction follows the publication of INEC’s final list on Saturday, which did not include PDP governorship candidates in Ogun and Gombe states.

In a statement, the PDP national publicity secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said the party was treating the development with the seriousness it deserved and working towards an amicable resolution in accordance with the law and established electoral guidelines.

He assured the affected candidates, party members and supporters that the PDP was taking steps to address the matter through engagement with INEC.

The party also urged those affected to remain calm and exercise patience while discussions with the electoral commission continued.

The final lists published on INEC’s website featured 13 governorship candidates in Ogun State and 16 in Gombe State, with no PDP candidate appearing on either list.

Among the prominent candidates reportedly omitted were Ladi Adebutu in Ogun State and Isa Ali Pantami in Gombe State.

The PDP expressed its commitment to resolving the issue through lawful means as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
