Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has congratulated the newly elected Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, Comrade Rauf Ojo Oyewole, on his emergence as chairman of the chapel.
The governor also congratulated the newly elected Secretary, Comrade Nasiru Sha’aibu, and other members of the Chapel’s Executive Committee following their election held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
In a congratulatory message issued by his Media Aide, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Bala described the election as a demonstration of the chapel’s commitment to democratic principles, professionalism, ethical journalism and unity within the media community.
He commended members of the chapel and the electoral committee for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election, stressing the important role of journalists in promoting good governance, accountability, development and peaceful coexistence.
The governor assured the new leadership of the Bauchi State Government’s continued support and respect for journalists, while expressing his administration’s readiness to strengthen its partnership with the media community in the interest of the state’s development.
He urged the newly elected executives to uphold the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues by promoting unity, professional excellence, ethical journalism and the welfare of journalists.
Governor Bala Mohammed wished the new leadership a fruitful and successful tenure, expressing confidence that the new executive would further strengthen the relationship between the Bauchi State Government and the Correspondents’ Chapel.
Other members elected into the Chapel’s Executive Committee include Comrade Muhammad Kawu of New Nigerian Newspapers as Vice Chairman; Adamu Shehu Imam of Trust TV as Treasurer; and David Adenuga of The Nation Newspapers as Auditor.
