A students’ political group, the Kaura-Yakubu Students Mobilisation Network, has endorsed Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat and Yakubu Adamu for the Bauchi State governorship election under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the 2027 general elections.
The group announced its endorsement at an event organised in support of the two politicians under the theme, “Support for Greater Bauchi State.”
Speaking at the event, the convener of the network, Comrade Bello Aminu, said the decision followed careful consideration, noting that the APM was the only political party in Bauchi State that had offered its governorship ticket to a young aspirant.
Aminu said Governor Mohammed had provided opportunities for young people to serve in various capacities in his administration, expressing confidence that Adamu, as a youth himself, would sustain the commitment to youth inclusion if elected governor.
He added that the leadership qualities demonstrated by Mohammed and Adamu had contributed to investments in human capital development and improvements in access to education across the state.
The convener urged members of the network to intensify grassroots mobilisation by engaging their families, relatives and other members of their communities to support Mohammed for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat and Adamu for governor in 2027.
In his remarks, Governor Mohammed, represented by his Special Adviser on Youths and Entrepreneurship, Comrade Atiku Isa, highlighted some of his administration’s achievements, particularly in the education sector.
He said the state government had increased the monthly subvention to the state-owned Sa’adu Zungur University from N40 million to N440 million.
The governor urged members of the students’ group to campaign for the APM to ensure continuity in governance, adding that the capital projects executed by his administration would benefit future generations.
Mohammed also promised further opportunities for women and young people, particularly through technology initiatives, economic empowerment programmes, youth-focused interventions and the sustenance of the state’s investment summit.
Speaking on behalf of the APM governorship candidate, Yakubu Adamu, the Permanent Commissioner of the State Scholarship Board, Hussaini Saraki, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.
Saraki said the party enjoyed widespread acceptance across the state and would emerge victorious at the polls. He added that Adamu, if elected, would consolidate the achievements of the Mohammed administration, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, education, economic development and youth empowerment.
