Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, on Friday distributed 17 brand-new motorcycles and one Sharon bus to 17 social media influencers as part of his ongoing youth empowerment initiative.
The Senator said the intervention is aimed at improving the beneficiaries' mobility, enhancing their productivity, and supporting their contributions to public engagement and community development across the state.
The beneficiaries, drawn predominantly from Bauchi South, expressed appreciation to the Senator, describing the gesture as a demonstration of his commitment to youth empowerment and inclusive leadership.
Speaking during the presentation, Senator Umar acknowledged the important role social media influencers play in promoting public awareness, disseminating accurate information, and encouraging civic participation.
He urged those who were not selected in the current phase to remain patient, assuring them that more beneficiaries would be accommodated in subsequent phases of the programme.
"This donation is part of our broader effort to deliver the dividends of democracy and improve livelihoods through practical, people-focused interventions," Senator Umar said.
According to a statement issued on Friday by Comrade Sabo Mohammed, Adviser on Media and Communication to the Senator representing Bauchi South and the PRP Governorship Candidate for the 2027 election, the latest intervention adds to Senator Umar's growing record of community empowerment initiatives.
The statement noted that the Senator recently distributed 188 motorcycles to party supporters and constituents in appreciation of their support during the 2022 senatorial candidate selection process.
Other interventions include the donation of a brand-new Toyota Camry to the Bauchi State Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Alhaji Abdulrahman Yusuf Mu'azu, Sardaunan Boto, to support party operations, as well as the purchase and donation of two residential houses worth N10 million to two young beneficiaries to improve their welfare and living conditions.
Senator Umar reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment, economic development, social inclusion, and responsive representation across Bauchi South, pledging to continue implementing programmes that create opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, and improve the quality of life of his constituents.
