Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has received another prestigious national recognition for his outstanding performance in the health sector at the 2026 States Competitiveness and Investment Readiness Awards (SCIRA), organized by BusinessDay Newspaper.

The award ceremony was held at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Abuja, where the Governor was honoured with the Outstanding Governor on Health Infrastructure Award.

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, received the award on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed. Speaking with journalists shortly after receiving the award, the commissioner described the recognition as a testament to the Governor's transformational leadership, visionary governance, and people-oriented policies that continue to drive sustainable development and improve the lives of the people of Bauchi State.

According to him, Governor Bala Mohammed was recognized for his sustained investments in the health sector, including the expansion and upgrading of healthcare facilities, improvement of medical infrastructure, and implementation of reforms aimed at enhancing healthcare service delivery across both urban and rural communities in the state.

He explained that the event brought together senior government officials, development partners, policymakers, and private sector leaders, serving as a national platform for assessing sub-national performance in governance, infrastructure delivery, and investment readiness.

Usman described the recognition as an affirmation of the administration's commitment to strengthening the health sector as a key pillar of development in Bauchi State.

He reaffirmed the government's determination to sustain ongoing reforms and expand access to quality healthcare services for citizens.

According to him, the SCIRA Awards evaluate states based on measurable indicators of governance performance, infrastructure delivery, and economic competitiveness, thereby providing a benchmark for sub-national development across Nigeria.

The commissioner said the recognition highlights Bauchi State's progress in healthcare development and its continued efforts to improve public service delivery through targeted investments in critical sectors.

He noted that the award was bestowed in recognition of Governor Bala Mohammed's sustained investment in modern health infrastructure, strategic healthcare reforms, and people-oriented policies aimed at improving access to quality medical services across the state.

Since assuming office, the governor has consistently prioritized the health sector as a cornerstone of his administration's development agenda. Under his leadership, Bauchi State has witnessed significant improvements in healthcare delivery through the construction and renovation of hospitals, upgrading of medical facilities, procurement of modern medical equipment, and expansion of access to essential healthcare services in both urban and rural communities.

Usman stated that the recognition serves as a testament to the Governor's visionary leadership and his determination to build a resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of the people.

He added that the administration remains committed to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of location or social status, has access to quality and affordable healthcare services.

The commissioner expressed appreciation to the organizers for recognizing the remarkable strides recorded by the Bauchi State Government in the health sector and reaffirmed the administration's resolve to sustain the momentum of development and continue implementing policies that improve the welfare and well-being of the people.

"This latest honour adds to the growing list of accolades received by Governor Bala Mohammed and further reinforces his reputation as a leader dedicated to delivering impactful governance, strengthening public institutions, and advancing sustainable development across Bauchi State.

"The award is not only a recognition of achievements already recorded but also an encouragement to continue pursuing excellence in healthcare infrastructure and service delivery for the benefit of present and future generations," he said.
