By Khalid Idris Doya

Senator Shehu Buba Umar, the PRP Governorship Candidate for Bauchi State and Senator representing Bauchi South, on Friday met with all PRP candidates for the 2027 general elections to harmonise campaign strategies and strengthen party unity.

A statement issued by his media aide, Comrade Sabo Mohammed, and made available to journalists in Bauchi on Saturday, said the meeting focused on developing a unified campaign framework anchored on the PRP manifesto, the Electoral Act 2026, and the party’s commitment to good governance, accountability, and people-oriented leadership.

Senator Umar stressed the importance of collaboration among party officials, stakeholders, and candidates across all constituencies.

He also called for an aggressive grassroots membership drive to consolidate the party’s structure and expand its support base across Bauchi State.

The meeting held at Kano was attended by all PRP candidates, including three senatorial candidates, 12 House of Representatives candidates, and 31 House of Assembly candidates.

According to the senator, their presence reflected the party’s unity, cohesion, and readiness for the 2027 elections.

Addressing the gathering, Senator Umar urged candidates to embrace teamwork, mutual support, and collective responsibility in advancing the party’s vision.

He charged them to focus on issue-based campaigns and maintain the highest standards of political conduct.

“Politics must be a vehicle for development, peace, and democratic values, not division and conflict,” Senator Umar said.

He cautioned against political thuggery, hate speech, character assassination, and the use of abusive language, both online and offline.

The senator reaffirmed the PRP’s commitment to peaceful, free, and credible elections, urging candidates to concentrate on presenting practical solutions to the challenges facing the people of Bauchi State.

Expressing confidence in the party’s growing popularity, he said, "With unity, dedication, and the support of the electorate, the PRP is well-positioned to achieve victory in the 2027 general elections."

He further urged party members and supporters to remain steadfast, disciplined, and committed to the ideals of the PRP as the party continues its mission of providing effective leadership and sustainable development for the people of Bauchi State.
