In the spirit of Christmas and the New Year festivities, a People's Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart in Gombe State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, has donated the sum of N10 million to the members of the party and christian community in the state.
The N10 million donation, he said was to support the christians as they celebrate the Christmas and New year celebrations.
He said the donation had become necessary “as our Christians brothers and sisters celebrate this year’s festival at a very difficult economic reality in the country’s history”.
It was gathered that the funds are to be distributed among party executives, elders, party members, and christians faithful across the state, cutting across denominations and local government areas.
Speaking on the gesture, Alhaji Hamma Saleh emphasised the importance of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence in the development of Gombe State.
He noted that Christmas is a season of love, sacrifice, and sharing, values which he said are not limited to one faith but are universal.
He rejoiced with the christians faithful and urged them to celebrate moderately in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
He stated that the season offers a unique opportunity for Nigerians to renew their hope and faith in God to make life more meaningful for us as a nation.
He urged the christians to draw lessons from the life and times of Jesus Christ who was an epitome of love, unity, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence, noting that no nation develops without peaceful coexistence and harmony.
Gombe State, he said, can be greater than the imagination of everybody if everyone played positive role.
