Ex-NBA Chairman Chides Gombe Transport Taskforce Over Alleged Overzealousness

By Najib Sani, Gombe

A former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Gombe State Branch, Benjamin Sati, has condemned the activities of a taskforce in the state, alleging they are imposing harsh and unjust transport rules on citizens.

In a letter of complaint addressing Governor Inuwa Yahaya on his Facebook page, Sati questioned why citizens 'cannot arrange private trips or pick up friends at roadside locations without being forced to use designated transport hubs like the Megapark'.

He cited an instance where a driver was fined for dropping him at Investment Quarters, with taskforce members insisting he had to proceed to Megapark.

Sati described the rules as "wicked" and "draconian", arguing they serve no purpose other than to worsen hardship for the common man.

He called for the instrument backing the rules to be challenged in court, stating it contradicts the law's purpose of serving the people.

The outspoken lawyer urged the government to focus on easing difficulties rather than making life miserable for citizens, and called for collective rejection of the "unjust" rules.
