Nigeria at 65: Dogara Applauds Tinubu’s Bold Reforms, Reignites Hope in National Destiny

By Abdulwahab Muhammad

As Nigeria marks 65 years of independence, Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Board of the National Credit Guarantee Company (NCGC), has delivered a compelling message of hope, unity, and transformation.

In his Independence Day statement, Dogara hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, describing his reform agenda as “seismic and historic.” He emphasized that the removal of fuel subsidy, stabilization of the naira, and renewed focus on investment are reshaping Nigeria’s economic future.

“These are not ordinary policy adjustments,” Dogara declared. “They are dismantling decades of decay and inertia. Though the pain of transition is real, the reward will be even greater.”

He urged Nigerians to embrace the moment as a turning point—one that demands patience, endurance, and collective resolve. According to Dogara, the 65th anniversary is not just a celebration of the past, but a rallying cry for national renewal.

As Chairman of the NCGC, Dogara highlighted the company’s role in amplifying the administration’s economic vision. By expanding access to credit for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), empowering women and youth, and unlocking enterprise across the federation, NCGC is helping to lay the foundation for inclusive growth.

“Inclusive financial empowerment is the backbone of national development,” he said. “It is the surest path to lifting millions out of poverty.”

Dogara warned against divisive politics and sectionalism, stressing that Nigeria’s survival depends on unity of purpose. He called on citizens to rise above narrow interests and embrace the higher calling of patriotism.

“At 65, Nigeria cannot afford the luxury of division. Our destiny is one, and our survival depends on unity of spirit and resolve.”

Acknowledging the current hardships facing citizens, Dogara encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful and steadfast. He affirmed that with visionary leadership and divine guidance, Nigeria will not only endure but flourish.

“This is not a moment for despair. It is a time to believe again in the Nigerian dream. Nigeria will become the true giant of Africa and a voice of influence in the world.”

Dogara concluded by pledging his unwavering commitment to strengthening democracy, defending national unity, and advancing reforms that deliver justice, prosperity, and dignity to every Nigerian.
