The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has commended the governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, for approving the long-awaited implementation of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) and the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for state health workers to be at par with their federal counterparts effective next month.
In a press release issued to our correspondent over the weekend, the Gombe State chairman of the union, Comrade Abdulsalam Yakubu, and secretary, Pharmacist Usman Mohammed Adamu, said the governor's approval for the new salary structure has rekindled hope and boosted the morale of health workers in the state
According to them, the decision reaffirmed the governor as a compassionate leader who places the welfare of his people and the growth of the health sector at the center of governance.
"Your Excellency’s decision could not have come at a better moment than now, as we converge at the Gombe Health Summit 2025 to chart a collective roadmap for advancing healthcare delivery in our dear state.
"By this action, you have demonstrated uncommon political will, sensitivity to the yearnings of health professionals, and an unwavering commitment to building a resilient and people-centered health system", the statement says.
The group assured the governor of their renewed dedication, loyalty, and partnership in consolidating the remarkable strides the administration has made in strengthening the health sector in Gombe State.
"With this gesture, the health workforce is more than ever motivated to rededicate itself to excellence in service delivery, ensuring that the people of Gombe State reap the full benefits of improved healthcare", the stated.
