Bauchi Assembly members spends N105million on constituents’ welfare

A member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, representing Disina, Shira local government area, Hon. Saleh Hodi Jibril Disina, said that he has spent over N105million to execute various grassroot projects in the area in the last six years.

Disina who is also the majority leader of the House said this on Monday while interacting with select journalists, explained that he has prioritised education and poverty reduction programmes.

According to him, 97 constituents were fully sponsored to the State University, Polytechnics and colleges of education. He added construction of primary and secondary schools across Disina.

“We have provided primary health care centres worth N21million in Garuruwan Sambawal and Gagidiba. We have constructed market and given out farm input and assisted small scale businesses. We have empowered our youths with motorcycles and vehicles to boost their economic growth,” he said.

Disina attributed his performance to robust achievements of the Assembly and cordial relationship with the executive arm of government, adding that he has severally pressed the Governor, Bala Mohammed to facilitate development projects in his constituency.

Over the last six years, Disina said that the House has passed 32 bills, with 16 of them being assented to by the Governor. Although, Disina explained that there were other bills awaiting the assent of the Governor, which include the local government financial autonomy and farmers/herders bills among others.
