The College for Qur'anic Science and Islamic Studies of a renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has been razed by fire at Rafin Albasa in Bauchi State.
Correspondents' Watch learnt that the incident brought devastation on the College storey buildings, destroyed offices, classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, libraries as well as a staff room on the upper floor of the school.
The cause of the inferno is yet to be ascertained but clothing materials, mattresses, blankets and other valuable items of the Staff and students were razed.
Director General of Education Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation Sayyadi Aliyu Sise Dahiru, who spoke with journalists when he conducted them round the School commiserate with the staff and students of the College.
He thanked the Almighty Allah as there was no loss of life and no student sustained any injury.
The Director General said: “College was established by Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi and it was affiliated with All Azhar University Cairo, commissioned by the former Vice President Muhammad Namadi Sambo.
“The college offers Western education side-by-side islamic education as well as entrepreneurial skills to make the students productive members of the society.
"We thank the almighty Allah that the incident happened after school hours. We thank the men of the State Fire Service that spent over three hours before they put off the fire.
He said books that belonged to Dahiru Bauchi, Late Hadi Sheikh Dahiru, late Ahmad Sheikh Dahiru and many Islamic Scholars were destroyed during the inferno.
Director of the State Fire Service who spoke through Moh'd Abubakar said "as a result of the incident, the fire burnt the School, properties and valuable document which include: library books about 5,000, students mattresses 250, beds 250, carpet 355 metres, wardrobes/lockers 24, students chairs 300, students food stuffs in the store rice- 60 bags, beans 25 bags, palm oil-12 jerrican, groundnut oil 13 jerrican, maggie/onga/salt 15 cartons, mats 43, robber kettle, 150, students cloths 1,583.
“Others were students writing and textbooks 7,228, students plates 317, teachers clothes 89, 3 handsets three and students credentials”
