Wikki Tourists thrash Zamfara United 4-1 to secure super eight spot

Wikki Tourists Football Club (FC), Bauchi, on Sunday delivered an emphatic 4-1 victory over Zamfara United FC in a thrilling 2024–2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) Matchday held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

Our Correspondent reports that the dominant performance saw Wikki Tourists secure a place in the prestigious Super Eight and climb to the top of the Group C Conference table with 23 points.

Wikki’s Jonathan Mairiga was the star of the match, opening the scoring in the 10th minute and doubling the lead in the 22nd.

Mentaka Bangs added the third goal in the 38th minute before Mairiga completed his hat trick with a fourth goal in the 52nd minute.

Zamfara United’s Abba Musa scored a consolation goal in the 89th minute.

In a post match interview, Zamfara United’s Technical Adviser, Ali Mohammed, acknowledged the loss, stating, “A match is win or lose today we lost, and that’s part of the game.

“I congratulate Wikki Tourists FC. They were prepared for it and deserved the win. I wish them all the best.” he said.

Wikki Tourists’ Technical Adviser, Abdul Maikaba, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.

“We set a target to qualify for the Super Eight, and we’ve achieved it. I believe these boys can take us all the way to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).” Maikaba said.

He also extended appreciation to the Bauchi State Government, the club’s management, supporters, and citizens of the state for their continuous support.
