The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has appointed Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General, Press Affairs/spokesperson for the Gombe State Governor, as a member of the National Planning Committee for the 2nd National Spokespersons Summit.
The Summit, an annual flagship event of NIPR and Federal Ministry of Information, is designed to rebuild understanding, strengthen the capacity of spokespersons, and refocus their direction towards development communication and patriotism with a view to elevate the standards of communication and public relations across Nigeria.
According to the NIPR in letter signed by its Registrar and Secretary to Council, Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue, fnipr, the selection and appointment of Ismaila Uba Misilli into the 16-member national committee was based on his expertise and the confidence the NIPR has in his ability to contribute to the success of the summit.
“I am pleased to convey to you, the approval of the NIPR Governing Council for you to serve as a Member of the National Planning Committee for the ‘2nd National Spokespersons Summit’. Your selection reflects the trust and confidence the Institute places in your expertise, commitment and dedication towards contributing to achieving the objectives of the committee”, the letter reads.
The event aims to enhance the communication skills of spokespersons, provide them with a deeper understanding of crisis management, and equip them with the latest trends in public communication. Additionally, it will focus on retooling public relations strategies to ensure effective and consistent messaging that promotes public and organizational reputation.
It could be recalled that earlier in January, the NIPR bestowed upon Ismaila Uba Misilli its membership, admitting him into the ‘PR Hall of Fame’ alongside presidential media aides and aides of other high ranking officials of the federal government. The NIPR later in March recognized Misilli as the best Spokesperson (State Category) at the National Spokespersons Award ceremony, honouring him with the prestigious Spokesperson Gold Certificate.
The 2nd National Spokespersons Summit is expected to hold in April, 2025.
