North East Trade Fair Not Postponed, Chamber of Commerce clarifies

The Bauchi State Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) has clarified the announcement that the 15th North East Joint Domestic Trade Fair scheduled to be held in Bauchi state has been postponed, saying that only the opening ceremony was postponed, not the whole trade fair.

It could be recalled that the Special Adviser to the State Governor, Mukhtar M. Gidado on Monday in a press statement said that the North East Domestic Trade Fair and official commissioning of new government house Bauchi and North East Governors' Forum (NEGF) meeting have all been postponed. 

The chairman of the Chamber, Hon. Aminu Mohammed Dan-maliki while speaking with journalists yesterday to clarify Gidado's announcement, said that what was postponed is the official opening ceremony of the fair which is billed to be performed by the Vice President, Senator Kassim Shettima.

Aminu explained that the trade fair has already  commenced since the 25th April, 2024 in IBB Square, Bauchi, opened to all businesses and transactions about the fair, revealing that the event would from the day of the official opening last for two good weeks.

The Chamber chairman stated that the postponement was necessitated by the fact that the Vice President, Senator Kassim Shettima was on official engagement to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

On the postponement of the official commissioning of the New Government House, Bauchi and the North East Governors' Forum (NEGF) meeting, Aminu Dan-maliki said that the two other events may have also been postponed because it is the same Vice President that will perform them.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Special North East Domestic Trade Fair, Arc. Abdu Usman said that the trade fair was organized by the North East Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the North East Governors' Forum.

"The Vice President was one of our own in the North East, so we feel it is proper that he spearhead the opening ceremony of the four to five events slated for almost the same period", Arc Usman said.
