...commends N10b gratuity allocation by Bauchi Government, demands transparency, accountability

The Bauchi APC Youth Ambassadors, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the bold and transformative economic reforms being implemented by the Federal Government.
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan, Coordinator Bauchi APC Youth Ambassadors. Hassan "We recognise that these reforms have required difficult decisions and adjustments, but they are aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy, improving fiscal sustainability, increasing public revenue and creating greater financial capacity for the Federal, State and Local Governments."
It added,"We therefore welcome the recent announcement by the Bauchi State Government regarding the proposed allocation of N10 billion for the payment of outstanding gratuity arrears owed to retired civil servants."
According to the group, "This is an important development, considering the years of hardship endured by pensioners and retirees who have been waiting for their legitimate entitlements. Many have suffered severe financial difficulties, while some have unfortunately passed away without receiving the benefits they earned through years of dedicated service.
"However, pensioners need payment, not just announcements," It stressed.
According to the group, "The Bauchi APC Youth Ambassadors therefore calls on the Bauchi State Government to provide clear and verifiable information on the N10 billion fund.
“This information include, the exact date payment will commence; number and categories of beneficiaries; years of gratuity arrears to be covered; total outstanding gratuity liability of the state; transparent mechanism for identifying and paying beneficiaries; and long-term plan for clearing the remaining backlog.
Mohammed Sani Hassan added, "We also urge that the payment of pensioners’ entitlements must not be politicised or used as a campaign instrument. Gratuity is not a political favour; it is a legitimate entitlement earned through years of service."
He added, "We call on relevant institutions, pensioners’ associations, labour unions, civil society organisations and the media to monitor the process and ensure that every naira allocated reaches the rightful beneficiaries."
According to him, "We want to make it clear that our demand for transparency and accountability is not political hostility. It is our responsibility as concerned citizens and supporters of the All Progressives Congress to demand accountability wherever public resources and the welfare of citizens are involved.
"The Bauchi APC Youth Ambassadors have pensioners and retired civil servants at heart. We will continue to stand with them, speak for them and support their legitimate demands," he added.
He also assured that, "We will also continue to advocate for the payment of their outstanding entitlements because we recognise their sacrifices and the years they devoted to serving Bauchi State."
The group added, "We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating a stronger fiscal environment through his economic reforms and urge the Bauchi State Government to ensure that the resources available to the state translate into improved welfare, infrastructure, healthcare, education, employment and, most importantly, the timely payment of workers and pensioners."
He stressed that,"On the ₦10 billion gratuity allocation, our message is simple: Move from announcement to implementation. From political rhetoric to transparent and verifiable action."
Mohammed Sani Hassan, concluded, "The people of Bauchi State, especially our pensioners, deserve nothing less."
