The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAPOLY), Bauchi Chapter, has appealed to the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, to facilitate the implementation of the newly reviewed salary structure and Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for academic staff of the institution.
Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, the chairman of ASUP, ATAPOLY Chapter, Comrade Nazif Abba Pali, said implementation of the approved entitlements would significantly boost staff motivation and productivity and enhance the continued delivery of quality education.
"The implementation of these entitlements will contribute significantly to staff motivation, improved productivity, and the continued delivery of quality education.
"We believe that a motivated workforce is fundamental to achieving the administration’s educational development objectives," Pali said.
The union therefore urged the relevant authorities to give the matter favourable consideration and ensure that academic staff benefit from the approved provisions.
Meanwhile, ASUP commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his interventions in the development of ATAPOLY, including ongoing road construction projects, payment of compensation for land acquired for the expansion of the institution, and fencing of the entire polytechnic.
“We also appreciate the support for accreditation funding, infrastructural development, and the appointment of principal officers from within the Polytechnic.
"These initiatives demonstrate His Excellency’s commitment to strengthening the institution’s infrastructure, expanding its capacity, and promoting sustainable educational development in Bauchi State," Pali said.
The ASUP chairman also acknowledged the financial support provided by the governor towards the successful hosting of the polytechnic’s First International Conference in December 2025.
He said the support contributed to the organisation of the conference, which provided a platform for intellectual engagement, knowledge sharing and discussions on sustainable economic development.
"We are grateful for this intervention and the confidence it reflects in the academic community of ATAPOLY," he said.
Pali further commended the government for the installation of solar-powered streetlights across the polytechnic campus, saying the intervention had improved campus illumination and contributed to creating a more conducive environment for teaching, learning and other academic activities.
"We recognise this effort as part of the government’s commitment to improving facilities and creating a more conducive environment for teaching, learning, and other academic activities."
The union also recognised the administration’s attention to staff welfare, which remains essential to maintaining staff morale, institutional stability, and effective service delivery.
"We commend these efforts and encourage the government to sustain its support for the Polytechnic,” he said.
The union assured that it remained committed to constructive engagement, industrial harmony and the sustainable development of ATAPOLY.
"We believe that through continued collaboration between the government, management and staff, ATAPOLY can attain greater academic excellence and institutional progress," Pali added.
He said the union looked forward to continued collaboration and further interventions that would strengthen the institution and improve the welfare of its staff.
