The Arewa Dignity Advancement Initiative (ArDA) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint former Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, as minister representing Bauchi North Senatorial District following the resignation of former Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.
In an open letter signed by its Chairperson, Hajiya Baheejah Mahmood Abdullahi, the group argued that the appointment would promote justice, fairness and equity, noting that Bauchi North has lost its only major federal executive representation after Tuggar resigned to contest the Bauchi governorship election.
ArDA said it had observed an imbalance in federal appointments from Bauchi State, claiming that most key positions under the current administration are occupied by individuals from Bauchi Central and Bauchi South, while Bauchi North remains underrepresented.
The group acknowledged appointments given to other Bauchi indigenes but maintained that board chairmanships and governing council memberships do not offer the same executive influence and developmental impact as ministerial positions.
It described Adamu Adamu as a loyal party stalwart, experienced administrator and respected statesman whose appointment would reassure the people of Bauchi North of the administration's commitment to inclusive governance.
According to the group, appointing the former minister would address perceived marginalisation, strengthen confidence in the Renewed Hope agenda and uphold the principles of federal character, equity, political balance and national unity.
ArDA appealed to President Tinubu to urgently consider Adamu Adamu for the vacant ministerial position, insisting that the people of Bauchi North seek only fair representation in the distribution of federal appointments.
