Former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Abdulmalik Mahmood, has donated a parcel of land in Itas, Itas-Gadau Local Government Area, to the Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) for the construction of its permanent secretariat.
The donation is expected to strengthen the organisation's capacity to coordinate and sustain its community development programmes across Bauchi State.
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO), Kamal Ibrahim and made available to reporters in Bauchi on Thursday, Mahmood said the gesture was his contribution towards advancing initiatives that promote community empowerment, social development and improved livelihoods.
He noted that he had closely followed BWSO's activities through media reports and commended the organisation for its impact on communities.
According to him, the interventions of BWSO reflect the leadership values and humanitarian principles championed by its founder, Dr. Bala Maijama'a Wunti.
"Dr. Wunti's commitment to charity, grassroots development and improving the lives of ordinary citizens has changed the way people perceive community-focused leadership in Bauchi State. The establishment of a permanent office will further enhance BWSO's ability to expand and sustain its programmes," Mahmood said.
Represented by the Chief of Operations, Alhaji Ladan Salihu Kangere, the Chief Executive Officer of BWSO, Malam Mukhtar Ahmed Jarmajo, described the donation as historic and expressed appreciation to the former deputy governor.
He said the land would serve as a lasting symbol of partnership and shared commitment towards advancing community development in the state.
Jarmajo added that the growing support from influential citizens and community leaders demonstrates increasing acceptance of the philosophy of Dr. Bala Wunti, which places humanitarian service, grassroots empowerment and collective development at the centre of leadership.
He reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to expanding initiatives that positively impact communities across Bauchi State.
