Governor Mohammed Storms Darazo LGA After Deadly Farmers-Herders Clash Claims Seven Lives

By Samuel Luka

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, on Friday visited Lanzai and Dosho communities in Darazo Local Government Area to commiserate with victims of a recent farmers-herders conflict that claimed lives and destroyed property.

Mohammed met with traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies, farmers and herders to discuss lasting solutions to the crisis

The Village Head of Dosho, Alhaji Musa Kalla; District Head of Lanzai, Alhaji Idris Bala; and Emir of Darazo, Alhaji Ibrahim Babayo Bababa, expressed concern over the violence and urged swift government action to prevent further escalation. They called for justice, reconciliation and stronger security presence in the affected areas.

Bauchi Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assured residents that surveillance had been intensified and security personnel deployed to restore order. He urged citizens to remain calm and shun reprisals.

Governor Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting all residents regardless of ethnicity or occupation

He announced the immediate constitution of a high-powered committee to investigate the root causes of the clash and recommend sanctions for those found culpable.

The governor also approved the deployment of additional security personnel and the establishment of a special security outpost in Darazo to strengthen monitoring and deter future violence.

He urged farmers and herders to embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence, noting that development thrives only where peace and the rule of law prevail.

All stakeholders pledged to work together for lasting peace in Darazo and across Bauchi State.

It can be recalled that five police officers were killed and two others injured on Nov. 22, 2025, when a joint tactical team was ambushed by suspected bandits and armed herders in Sabon Sara village, in the same Darazo LGA

The officers were on an intelligence-led patrol to prevent farmer-herder conflicts.

The deceased were identified as DSP Ahmad Muhammad, ASP Mustapha Muhammad, Inspector Amarhel Yunusa, Inspector Idris Ahmed, and Corporal Isah Muazu.

Injured officers, Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, received treatment at Darazo General Hospital. The slain personnel were buried on Nov. 24, 2025.
