Primary election: APC loyalist calls for fairness for lone female Rep aspirant

By Ahmed Mohammed

A former Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Hajiya Sa’adatu Mamuda, has called on the leadership of the party to ensure fairness and justice for the only female aspirant contesting for the House of Representatives ticket for Bauchi Federal Constituency, Hajiya Badi’atu Inuwa Siyama.

Hajiya Sa’adatu, flanked by several party supporters and politicians, made the appeal on Sunday while addressing a press conference in Bauchi.

She stated that although the party had announced that primaries for all House of Representatives aspirants would be conducted on the day, hundreds of women supporters trooped out as early as the morning to cast their votes for Badi’atu Inuwa Siyama, but were disappointed by the absence of electoral officials and materials.

“From about 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., we did not see any electoral officials in all the polling units we visited,” she said.

According to her, the affected polling units included Makama Sarkin Baki, Bakari Dukku, Yamrat Dandango, Liman Katagum, and Birshi Miri, where they allegedly found no election personnel or voting materials.

She appealed to the national, state, and local government leadership of the APC to intervene and ensure justice for all aspirants.

Hajiya Sa’adatu further urged the party leadership that if a consensus arrangement would eventually be adopted, the ticket should be given to Hajiya Badi’atu Inuwa Siyama as the only female aspirant in the race, in the interest of justice, fairness, and inclusion.
