The Kauran Students Support Forum has formally withdrawn its support for Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed ahead of the 2027 general elections and declared its endorsement of Hon. Usman Adamu Suphi as its preferred governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State.
The announcement was made during a mega world press conference held on Saturday at the Conference Hall of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Tomb in Bauchi.
Reading the communiqué, the Chairman of the forum, Comrade Abdulrahim Adamu Musa, said the group, which was established during the 2019 general elections and officially registered under the Bauchi State Cooperative Society on May 6, 2020, had remained loyal to the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed over the years.
According to him, the forum operates structures across the 20 local government areas of the state and boasts over 1,000 student members who have devoted their time, energy and resources in support of the present administration.
He, however, said that after extensive consultations with youth stakeholders, student union leaders and elder statesmen across the state, the forum resolved to withdraw its movement for Governor Bala Mohammed and instead support Hon. Usman Adamu Suphi for the 2027 governorship race.
Musa added that the group had also inaugurated a new political mobilisation platform known as the “Usman Suphi and Sani Adamu Grassroots Mobilisation Team,” aimed at canvassing support for Suphi’s governorship ambition and Hon. Sani Adamu’s aspiration to represent Warji Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
He described Suphi as a leader with proven records in peace-building, community development, youth empowerment and humanitarian services, irrespective of tribal, religious or political differences.
The chairman further urged residents of the state to rally behind Suphi, describing him as a courageous, disciplined and visionary leader capable of transforming Bauchi State.
