Pate Won’t Contest Bauchi Governorship Ticket — Support Group

By Monday Danladi

The main support group of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, has announced that he will not contest the Bauchi State governorship ticket despite mounting calls for him to join the 2027 race.

The group, Pate Youth Ambassadors Initiatives (PYI), said the minister declined the calls, noting that it was not yet time for such a move.

This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Director-General of PYI, Mohammed Sani Hassan.

Hassan said the group deeply appreciates the overwhelming support shown by residents of Bauchi State.

“The Pate Youth Ambassadors Initiatives extends its heartfelt appreciation to all supporters of Professor Muhammad Ali Pate across every corner of Bauchi State. Your overwhelming show of love, loyalty, and confidence in our leader is deeply touching and inspiring,” he said.

According to him, the calls for Pate to contest reflect the trust people have in his leadership capacity and vision.

“We have listened closely to the voices of many well-meaning citizens who earnestly wished to see Professor Pate contest for the office of Governor of Bauchi State in 2027. This outpouring of support reflects the trust and belief the people have in his competence and leadership,” he added.

Hassan, however, explained that Pate’s decision not to run is rooted in a broader commitment to national service.

“His decision not to contest is a profound act of sacrifice, driven by a greater commitment to the service and development of Nigeria, particularly Northern Nigeria and Bauchi State.”

He stressed that at a critical time in the country, Pate’s expertise and global experience are needed more at the national level.

“Professor Pate has demonstrated that true leadership is not about personal ambition, but about selfless service and dedication to the common good.”

The group reassured youths in Bauchi State of Pate’s continued support for their development and empowerment.

“He remains fully committed to the growth and future of young people and will continue to stand with them.”

PYI also urged supporters to remain united and await further political direction from the minister, including guidance on whom to support in the governorship and National Assembly races.

“We are confident in our collective strength and readiness to deliver when the time comes,” Hassan said.

He concluded by describing Pate as a rare and selfless leader whose legacy is already evident in the lives he has impacted.
