2027: Bala Wunti Denies Withdrawal Rumour, Confirms Participation in APC Governorship Primary

The camp of APC governorship aspirant, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti, has dismissed reports alleging that he was considering withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.

In a statement signed by Usman Abdullahi Koli and made available to journalists, he described the claim as “misleading” and the handiwork of “fifth columnists” aimed at confusing supporters and members of the public.

The statement maintained that Dr. Wunti remains fully committed to contesting the APC governorship primary and has never contemplated stepping down from the race.

“For the avoidance of doubt and to put the record in proper perspective, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti has never contemplated or rescinded his decision to fly the flag of APC,” the statement said.

According to the team, the aspirant believes strongly in due process and internal democracy and is prepared to participate in the exercise. The statement further expressed confidence in the leadership of the APC to provide a level playing field for all aspirants participating in the primary election.

He called on supporters and loyalists across the state to turn out massively and support Dr. Wunti’s aspiration, describing him as a candidate capable of bringing meaningful development to Bauchi State.

“We will not disappoint the teeming population of our dear state who have been longing for the candidature of Dr. Bala Wunti,” the statement added. He however, urged the public to disregard what he termed attempts by “anti-progress individuals” to undermine the aspiration through misinformation and propaganda.
