We'll not fail you - Gov. Mohammed assures NYSC

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi stated has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) that his administration would not fail in its statutory responsibilities to the scheme in the state.

Mohammed made the pledge during the swearing in ceremony for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members posted to the state for the one year compulsory service exercise.

The governor, who said that the people of Bauchi State appreciated and supported the goals and objectives of the NYSC, added that his government had been collaborating with the scheme in every possible way to ensure its success in the state.

“Considering the NYSC programme as a catalyst for accelerated national development, I urge you to take the nation's call to selfless service with utmost seriousness.

“The future of this country rests in your hands. You have a crucial role to play in shaping our collective destiny and you must not misuse this unique opportunity.

“It is now your responsibility to seize this opportunity and make the best use of it during the orientation exercise. May I urge you to justify the trust the nation has in you”, said the governor.

Earlier, Mr Umoren Kufre, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, appreciated the governor for his continuous support to the scheme in the state especially, the complete renovation of corps members’ hostels and the construction of a brand new multipurpose hall in the camp.

“May I also use this opportunity to register our profound appreciation to the governor for his intervention in rebuilding the broken parts of the camp perimeter fence which had posed security threats to the camp community.

“We equally remain grateful to him for prioritising the welfare and security of corps members in the state,” he said.

Kufre explained that a total of 1,700 corps members were posted to the state and assured that they would come up with community development service projects that would have a direct impact on the members of their host communities.
