By Ahmed Ahmed

The Headquarters of the 33 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, has announced plans to conduct its first Range Classification Exercise for 2026 at the Shadawanka Small Arms Range in Bauchi State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Bauchi by Lt. Esther Fagbolagun, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations. According to the statement, the exercise is scheduled to take place from Monday, April 27 to Thursday, April 30, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.

The exercise forms part of the brigade’s annual training programme aimed at enhancing troops’ proficiency in weapon handling and the application of marksmanship principles. It will also include accurate shooting drills and test firing of personal weapons to assess the overall combat readiness of personnel.

Residents of Shadawanka and surrounding communities have been advised to expect increased troop movement and intermittent gunfire during the exercise period.

However, the Army emphasized that all necessary safety measures have been put in place to ensure there is no threat to lives or property.

Residents are urged not to panic but to continue with their normal daily activities. The brigade also appealed for public cooperation and called on stakeholders to help disseminate the information for wider awareness.
