A political pressure group, Pate Youths Ambassadors Initiatives (PYI), alongside 101 other youth groups in Bauchi State, has called on the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, to heed growing calls for him to declare interest in the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The appeal was made during a press conference addressed by the Director-General of the group, Prince Mohammed Hassan, on Monday in Bauchi, in collaboration with the 101 youth groups across the state.
According to him, the gathering was convened to convey the collective voice of thousands of youths and stakeholders across Bauchi State.
“We have gathered here today to make a passionate appeal and to convey the collective voices of thousands of youths and stakeholders across the length and breadth of Bauchi State,” he said.
Hassan urged the minister to answer what he described as a clarion call from the people of the state.
“Today, we call on Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to please answer the clarion call of the good people of Bauchi State and declare his intention to contest for the office of Governor of Bauchi State in the 2027 elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.
He described Pate as a globally respected public health expert and accomplished administrator with a proven record of leadership and service.
“Professor Ali Pate is not just another aspirant. He is a globally respected public health expert, an accomplished administrator and a patriotic son of Bauchi State who has consistently demonstrated competence, integrity and visionary leadership,” Hassan stated.
He added that among those aspiring to lead the state, Pate stands out due to his experience, credibility and track record in public service.
Hassan highlighted Pate’s previous roles, including serving as Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Minister of State for Health, and currently as Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare.
According to him, Pate has worked tirelessly to strengthen Nigeria’s health sector and expand access to healthcare services across the country.
He also claimed that since assuming office as coordinating minister, Pate had facilitated employment opportunities for no fewer than 2,670 youths from Bauchi State, securing them permanent and pensionable federal jobs.
“This singular achievement has significantly improved the lives of many families across our state,” he said.
Hassan further cited several health sector developments linked to Pate’s efforts, including the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Misau, the Federal College of Nursing Sciences, Misau, the upgrading of Federal Medical Centre Azare to Federal Teaching Hospital Azare, as well as improvements at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.
“These achievements clearly demonstrate Professor Pate’s commitment not only to national service but also to the development and wellbeing of the people of Bauchi State,” he added.
The youth leader said Bauchi State was at a critical point in its history and required leadership that is visionary, inclusive and capable of driving development without division.
“We believe strongly that Professor Muhammad Ali Pate represents the type of leadership Bauchi State needs at this critical time,” he said.
He added that Pate’s national and global exposure, combined with his connection to the grassroots, makes him a suitable candidate for the governorship.
Hassan therefore appealed to the minister to heed the call of the people and contest the 2027 governorship election.
“If he answers this call, we assure him that the youths of Bauchi State will stand firmly behind him. Our movement will mobilise across all the nooks and crannies of the state, from villages to towns, wards and local governments to rally support for his aspiration,” he said.
He expressed confidence that Bauchi State would witness a new era of development, unity and prosperity under Pate’s leadership.
“We respectfully call on Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, Mai Nasaran Bauchi and Cigarin Misau, to listen to the voice of the people and lead Bauchi State to greater heights,” he added.
