The Aliko Dangote Foundation has donated 20,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice to Bauchi State as part of its 2026 Ramadan palliative programme aimed at supporting vulnerable and underprivileged residents across the state.

Flagging off the distribution of the rice to persons living with disabilities and other vulnerable groups at the Dr. Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi, on Monday, Governor Bala Mohammed commended the foundation for its consistent support to the people of the state.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Auwal Jatau, noted that the foundation's interventions since the inception of his administration have significantly improved the living conditions of many indigent residents, particularly the less privileged.

He directed the State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to ensure that the rice palliatives are distributed fairly, transparently, and strictly to the intended beneficiaries.

On her part, the state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Hajara Yakubu Wanka, explained that the initiative forms part of the Dangote Foundation's nationwide humanitarian support programme covering all 36 states of the federation.

According to her, the foundation distributes food items every Ramadan as part of its commitment to supporting Nigerians, particularly vulnerable groups.

She revealed that Bauchi State received 20,000 bags of 10-kilogram rice, which will be distributed to carefully selected beneficiaries across the state.

Hon. Wanka added that the ministry ensured that the most deserving groups were prioritised, including persons living with disabilities, widows, the elderly, and other vulnerable members of society.

She noted that the intervention would help cushion the economic hardship faced by many households, especially during the Ramadan period.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event expressed appreciation to both the Bauchi State Government and the Dangote Foundation, describing the support as timely and impactful amid current economic challenges.
