The Bauchi State Government has commenced the payment of March salaries to civil servants across the state, while the ongoing recruitment exercise into the state civil service has reached its final stage.
The State Head of Service, Mr Sani Umar, disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday in Bauchi, where he provided updates on workers’ welfare and the progress of the recruitment process.
Umar said Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, had directed the immediate payment of salaries to enable civil servants prepare for the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations with their families.
He explained that the payment process had already commenced as of March 16, assuring that all civil servants in the state were expected to receive their salaries before the end of the day.
According to him, the governor has consistently prioritised the welfare of workers, particularly during festive periods, noting that the gesture would bring relief to families and stimulate economic activities across the state.
“Workers will now have the resources to purchase food items, clothing and gifts for their families and loved ones as they prepare for the Sallah festivities,” he said.
Providing updates on the recruitment exercise, the Head of Service stated that the process had reached its concluding phase, with interviews already underway across most of the 18 participating Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
He said he personally monitored the exercise in several institutions, including the Civil Service Commission.
Teachers Service Commission, Ministry of Works, Ministry of Housing and Environment, Sharia Commission, and Aminu Saleh College of Education Azare.
Umar commended the professionalism of interview panels and the orderly conduct of candidates during the exercise.
He added that once the interview stage is completed, the respective MDAs and service commissions would submit lists of successful candidates, after which appointment letters would be uploaded digitally for candidates to access and print.
The Head of Service also warned applicants against paying money to secure employment, noting that security agencies had arrested some individuals involved in recruitment fraud.
He stressed that anyone found collecting or offering money for employment would face prosecution and automatic disqualification.
Umar also appreciated members of the media for their support in informing the public and promoting transparency in the recruitment process.
