A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Alhaji Abubakar Kari has dismissed claims of factionalisation within the party, describing existing disagreements as normal political differences.
The party stalwart, who spoke in Bauchi, said such differences should not be misconstrued as factions, noting that they were being resolved through internal mechanisms.
“There are no factions in ADC. What we have are political differences, which can be resolved amicably,” he said.
Kari reaffirmed the legitimacy of the party’s national leadership under David Mark, adding that due process was followed in his emergence.
According to him, the leadership has also been recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The chieftain noted that internal disagreements were not peculiar to ADC, as most political parties in the country experienced similar challenges.
Kari expressed confidence in the party’s leadership, describing it as experienced and capable of steering ADC to greater heights.
Speaking on the situation in Bauchi State, he maintained that the party remained united, adding that any issues at the state level were being addressed.
On the party’s prospects, the ADC chieftain expressed optimism that it would record significant victories in future elections at the local, state and national levels.
He also disclosed that the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise had recorded impressive turnout in Bauchi State, with over 150,000 members registered.
According to him, the state currently ranks among the leading in the exercise nationwide.
He urged residents to take advantage of the extended registration period to join the party.
The chieftain assured that ADC remained committed to providing credible leadership and an alternative platform for Nigerians.
