Bauchi State Police Command has assured the residents of Mansur to remain calm amid attacks in their neighborhood which led to many fleeing their ancestral homes, saying that its operatives have been deployed with adequate weapons to restore peace.
Addressing the press on Thursday morning at the Command, the Spokesperson, SP Habib Nafiu, said that there were rumours of possible attack on Mansur community while the residents fled the area without attack.
Nafiu said that there has been a resurgence of security concerns in Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri in the Alkaleri Local Government Area. He said that after a thorough security assessment, the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has initiated a massive deployment of joint security personnel to the affected communities to suppress the criminal elements.
“It is important to inform the public that these border communities have faced security challenges for some time due to the infiltration of criminal elements from neighboring states.”
The Command reassures the residents of Mansur town, in Alkaleri LGA, who fled their homes, that the security situation is under control. “Despite recent incidents in neighboring Gwana District, Mansur town remains unaffected, and there is no cause for alarm.
“It is with great certainty that I confirm to you that massive deployments of security personnel and enhanced weaponry have been put in place to subdue kidnapping and banditry in the affected communities.
Moreover, this collaborative efforts of the Police, the Military, the DSS, the NSCDC, and other security agencies, with the active support of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed, are yielding positive results.
“Operatives are working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability in the affected areas.”
He assured the residents of Mansur village that the security situation is steadily improving and remains under control, adding that there is no safe haven for banditry in the area.
