Lawyer raises concern over Emir Sanusi's dress code as law student

By Najib Sani, Gombe

The enrolment of emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi in the law programme at Northwest University, Kano State has continued to elicit barrage of reactions, with some questioning his unconventional dress choice

Lawyer Mubarak Zarewa took to Facebook, expressing concerns that the emir's unwillingness to dress like other students contradicts institutional regulations.

The emir, a PhD holder and former Central Bank governor, has been attending lectures in traditional attire, blending in with his younger classmates.

His decision to pursue a law degree has been widely praised, with many hailing it as a testament to lifelong learning

But some argue that his traditional dress may disrupt the academic environment.

"Sunusi's unwillingness to dress like any other student is against the long-age convention and institutional regulation," Zarewa posted.

However, the university has not commented on the matter, probably out of respect for the emir, as his lecturers were seen genuflecting to greet him when he comes to class.
