The Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to religious harmony and continued support for lawful religious activities as the 13th National Izala Camping concluded after four days in Bauchi State.
Governor Bala Mohammed gave the assurance during the closing ceremony of the camping, where he was represented by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Societal Reorientation, Engr. Mohammad Abdulkadir Binni.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, the commissioner described religion as a powerful instrument for promoting peace, unity, and moral values in society. He said the Bauchi State Government remains committed to providing an enabling environment for religious activities that are lawful and promote peaceful coexistence.
He noted that the government recognizes the vital role played by faith-based organizations in addressing social challenges, guiding the youth, and supporting community development. According to him, sustained cooperation between the government and religious institutions would further strengthen peace and harmony across the state.
In his remarks, the National Leader of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), headquartered in Jos, Plateau State, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, commended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders across the country.
Sheikh Jingir said the Izala leadership would continue to collaborate with government authorities in addressing the numerous challenges facing the nation. He stressed the importance of national unity and urged religious leaders to consistently preach tolerance, discipline, and patriotism to their followers.
He added that religious organizations have a sacred responsibility to complement government efforts in nation-building, noting that Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah would intensify enlightenment programmes aimed at correcting misconceptions, promoting peaceful coexistence, and strengthening moral values, especially among the youth.
Also speaking at the event, the Emir of Bauchi, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, pledged the support of the Bauchi Emirate Council towards sustaining religious harmony and peace. He was represented by the Wakilin Malaman Bauchi, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Duguri.
The emir’s representative said the traditional institution remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote religious understanding, social stability, and unity within the emirate and beyond.
He assured participants of the emirate’s continued partnership with religious bodies and government agencies to sustain peace, discourage extremism, and uphold the long-standing tradition of mutual respect among the people of Bauchi State.
The closing ceremony was attended by religious leaders, government officials, and other key stakeholders.
