The Provost of Aminu Saleh College of Education, (ASCOE) Azare, Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed, has hailed Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, for his unwavering support toward the accreditation of the institution’s academic programmes.
In a statement signed by the Assistant Deputy Registrar, Information and Linkages, Malam Suleiman Shehu, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Bauchi.
She described his intervention as a catalyst for sustaining quality education and strengthening teacher training in the state.
The Provost said the governor’s approval and release of funds facilitated the smooth accreditation of the final six undergraduate courses out of the 13 programmes offered by the College.
The accreditation conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) from Monday, December 1 to Wednesday, December 3, 2025 covered B.Sc. Ed. Agriculture, B.Sc. Ed. Chemistry, B.Sc. Ed. Health Education.
Others are B.Sc. Ed. Mathematics, B.Sc. Ed. Physical Education, and B.Sc. Ed. Physics.
According to her, the governor’s consistent support, including funding previous accreditations for both NCE and degree programmes, reflects a clear commitment to educational excellence.
“It is with immense gratitude that I commend His Excellency’s unwavering commitment to the advancement of education in our state,” the Provost said.
“Your government’s generous funding for accreditation is a monumental step toward enhancing the quality of teacher training and overall academic standards in our institution.”
She noted that the intervention ensured that the College met all national standards, boosted staff and student morale, and reinforced the institution’s mission of producing competent educators capable of shaping the future.
“We deeply appreciate your leadership. The College remains committed to leveraging this support to elevate academic delivery and contribute meaningfully to community development,” she added.
Speaking during the accreditation briefing, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, represented by the Director of Affiliated Colleges, Professor Munkaila Mohammed, commended the College’s high level of preparedness.
He described it as one of the best-performing affiliated institutions in facility provision, compliance, and quality assurance.
The NUC accreditation team leader, Professor Miriam Suleiman, also praised the College’s readiness and hospitality.
She assured that the team would thoroughly and diligently execute its assignment to uphold the necessary standards for advancing Nigeria’s education sector.
