Coalition of Professional Health Volunteers Association of Nigeria, Bauchi State Chapter has pleaded with the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate and the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed to consider their contributions to the health sector while giving employment.
The leader of the coalition in Bauchi State, Comr. Yusuf Aliyu Fada, said this during an annual conference of the group. He also said that the group has partnered the Minister’s Free Medical Outreach Team, which has reached out to over 5,000 people with free medical services, particularly the vulnerable members of the communities.
According to Fada, the outreach services were taken to Kirfi town maternity and Sarkin Kirfi Palace with free Hepatitis B screening and vaccination, Central Market Bauchi, Railway Market Bauchi, organised sensitisation workshop on breast and cervical cancer among women teachers in Ibrahim Tahir Government Model Primary and Secondary School, cervical cancer screening test, breast examination and HPV vaccination against cervical cancer in Magama Gumau of Toro LGA among others.
“We have plans to reach out to over 10,000 people across 20 LGAs of Bauchi State in the first quarter of 2026 but this time around we are pleading with the Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate with more support.
“Furthermore, most of our members are volunteers, including me, currently serving in public healthcare facilities, we're calling on the Honourable Minister to provide us with employment. We're commending him over the remarkable achievement recorded in just two years in office which include the following; revitalisation of thousands PHC's, free C.S which contributed to significant reduce of maternal and neonatal mortality rate in Nigeria, subsidised kidney dialysis 86% discount, free medical service in emergency at first 48 hours.
“He has given two of our members appointments and that is why we present an award of excellence to him while calling on Mr. President to keep giving him support for effective service delivery in Nigeria.
“We also commend the efforts of Prof. Jibrin Yusuf Bara (CMD ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi) for given us support and taking ATBU Teaching Hospital to greater heights, recently ATBU Teaching Hospital Bauchi under his leadership has been emerge as best DHIS2 utilization hospital in Nigeria.
“We commend the efforts of Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad (executive governor of Bauchi state) for his recent effort of employing 10,000 youth in the state and we hope that our members would be considered, may God Almighty grant him more wisdom to keep transforming Bauchi State.”
