The coalition of over 150 village heads in Lere District, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, have expressed deep appreciation to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for the creation of the Lere Emirate out of the existing Bauchi Emirate.
Recall that Governor Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday, signed into law a bill establishing 13 new emirates and one chiefdom across the state.
Speaking during a special meeting held at Zango Village yesterday, the leader of the coalition and Barayan Lere, Babangida Zango, described the creation of the new emirate as a commendable and visionary step by the governor.
According to him, the establishment of additional emirates and district heads will bring governance closer to the people, enhance administrative efficiency, and promote grassroots development.
"The creation of Lere Emirate will not only improve access to government programs but also boost agricultural productivity and foster socio-economic growth in our communities," Babangida stated.
He further commended Governor Bala Mohammed's administration for recognizing the importance of the Lere community and ensuring its inclusion in the state’s traditional governance structure.
Other traditional leaders who spoke at the meeting, including Muhammad Tukur Sha’aibu, Village Head of Zango; Mallam Munka’il Ibrahim, Village Head of Kofai; Ibrahim Yari, Village Head of Mangas; and Sha’aibu Aliyu Hardo, Village Head of Feruji also praised the governor's decision.
