Stakeholders urge Gov Mohammed to upgrade of Toro Emirate to 2nd-class status

By Monday Danladi

Barely few days after the creation of additional Emirates, Chiefdoms and Districts in Bauchi State, stakeholders from Toro Emirate, one of the newly created 13 emirates have requested for elevation of their monarch to Second Class rather than the Third Class status bestowed on the traditional leader.

The appeal was made on behalf of the people by Comrade Abdulfatah Muazu, President, Toro Uplift, in a letter addressed to the Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, copies of which were made available to journalists on Friday.

The letter, titled "Formal Appeal for Consideration of District Elevation", reads: "We extend our sincere gratitude to you, Governor Bala Mohammed, for your recent decision to elevate the District Heads of Toro, Jama'a, and Lame to the status of Second Class and Third Class Emirs. This recognition is appreciated by the youth of Toro Local Government Area."

According to him,"however, we respectfully appeal for your reconsideration regarding the Toro District. While we are thankful for the designation of a Third Class Emir, it is important to highlight our District's large population and the significant role that Toro played in your successful re-election as Governor.

"As the headquarters of the Local Government Area, Toro’s contribution to your electoral victory cannot be overstated," he stressed.

Abdulfatah Muazu added that, "We humbly request that you elevate Alhaji Umar Adamu Toro from Third Class Emir to Second Class Emir, similar to the distinctions conferred upon the Lame and Jama'a District Heads."

The reason, according to him, is, "Given the rich history and substantial population of Toro District, we believe this elevation would be a fair acknowledgment of our contributions."

He concluded that, "We express our deep appreciation for the Third Class Emir title granted to us and earnestly request your support in elevating our Emir to Second Class status. Thank you for considering our appeal."
