The Syndicate for Supporting Women and Children Initiative (SISWACHI) holds sports competitions for adolescent girls drawn from six selected day secondary schools in Bauchi State.
The activity was held to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, with the aim of encouraging girls to explore their potential beyond academics.
Speaking during the event, Mrs Maryam Mohammed, Executive Director of SISWACHI, said the competition was designed to engage adolescent girls in various sporting and social activities, promoting their physical and mental development.
She explained that six schools participated in the event, including both public and private institutions.
Mohammed appreciated the Bauchi State Ministry of Education and SISWACHI for their commitment toward achieving the objectives of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project in the state.
Some of the games featured during the competition included egg race, sack race, and tug of war, among others.
In her remarks, the Wife of the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Hajiya Asma’u Jatau, commended SISWACHI for the initiative and urged the girls to explore their talents in all fields.
She also encouraged them to pursue their education and career goals to fully harness their potential.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of medals to winners across various sporting categories.
Divine International Academy emerged the overall winner, clinching the gold medal in the competition.
