Bauchi gov drops women affairs commissioner eight months after

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has dropped his commissioner of women affairs and child development, Zainab Baban Takko, the removal from office takes immediate effect.

This was contained in a statement by Mohammed's Media Aide, Mukhtar Gidado on Monday, saying that the Governor approved “a minor change” in the composition of the State Executive Council. 

“In that respect, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko has been relieved of her appointment with immediate effect. The Governor thanked the Honourable Commissioner for her services to the State and wished her success in her future endeavors,” he said in the statement.

Zainab was sworn-in on January 15, 2025 alongside seven other commissioners.

Mohammed did not state a reason for “relieving” her from office and the Governor is expected to make a new nomination to the State House of Assembly very soon.
