Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has been honoured with the Outstanding Governor of the Year 2026 Award by Business Times Magazine in recognition of his leadership, commitment to development and contributions to innovation and impactful governance.
The award was presented on Thursday at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, during the magazine’s annual awards ceremony, which attracted prominent personalities from Nigeria’s political, business and diplomatic circles.
According to a statement issued yesterday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the event was attended by representatives of serving governors, members of the diplomatic corps, captains of industry, business leaders, politicians, media executives and other distinguished guests.
Governor Mohammed was represented at the ceremony by Gidado, who received the award on his behalf.
In his acceptance remarks, Gidado conveyed the governor’s appreciation to the management and organisers of Business Times Magazine for the recognition, describing it as both an honour and an encouragement to the administration to sustain its efforts toward delivering meaningful development to the people of Bauchi State.
He commended the organisers for their professionalism and commitment to identifying and celebrating individuals and institutions making significant contributions to society.
According to him, the recognition would further motivate the Bauchi State Government to remain focused on its development agenda and pursue policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of citizens and promoting sustainable growth.
Gidado stressed that the award was not only a personal honour for Governor Mohammed but also a recognition of the collective efforts of the government and people of Bauchi State toward the development of the state.
Earlier, the managing director of Business Times Magazine, Mr. Desmond, explained that the annual awards were established to identify, celebrate and encourage individuals, organisations and institutions that demonstrate excellence, innovation, leadership and measurable impact in their respective fields.
The 2026 ceremony was held under the theme, “Leading the Future: Excellence in Innovation and Impact,” reflecting the organisers’ emphasis on visionary leadership, creativity, innovation and initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to society.
The organisers said the awards provide a platform to celebrate outstanding achievements while encouraging leaders in both the public and private sectors to sustain the pursuit of excellence and impactful governance.
"The Outstanding Governor of the Year 2026 Award adds to the growing recognition of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration and its development initiatives across Bauchi State," Gidado stated.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to other individuals, private organisations and corporate institutions for their achievements and contributions in various fields.
