As the world celebrates World Tourism Day 2025 with the theme "Tourism and Sustainable Transformation," Bauchi State is being hailed as a model for sustainable tourism practices. The state's tourism sector has witnessed significant transformation under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, who has implemented various initiatives to boost tourism development.
According to Dr. Nasiru Muhammad Yusuf, Managing Director and State Conservator General of the Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC), Governor Mohammed's visionary leadership has repositioned Bauchi as Nigeria's leading eco-tourism destination. "The governor's unwavering commitment to tourism development has not only boosted visitors' confidence but has also attracted new private sector investments, creating jobs and stimulating local economies," Dr. Yusuf said.
Some of the notable initiatives implemented by the state government include the development of robust infrastructure, provision of social amenities, and enhanced security architecture around tourist sites. These efforts have improved visitor experience and made Bauchi a safe and attractive destination for domestic and international tourists.
The state's Yankari Game Reserve, Sumu Wildlife Park, and the iconic Emir's Palace are among the popular tourist attractions that have benefited from the government's investments. The improved road networks, electricity, and potable water supply have enhanced visitor comfort and community benefits.
Dr. Yusuf called on stakeholders to sustain the momentum by supporting the governor's vision and promoting the state's rich natural and cultural assets.
"Bauchi remains open to the world: a land of captivating landscapes, vibrant traditions, and warm hospitality," he said. "Together, let us continue to make tourism a powerful catalyst for peace and prosperity."
The celebration of World Tourism Day in Bauchi State is a testament to the state's commitment to sustainable tourism practices and its potential to drive economic growth, cultural exchange, and international understanding.
