Journalist distances self from report of alleged arrest of Sokoto cleric

Orude

A journalist, Mr. Paul Orude has distanced himself from a media report, claiming that he authored the story “Sokoto deputy chief Imam arrested over alleged ties to armed bandits”.

Orude in a public disclaimer on Friday, said that his attention was called to the publication which has been falsely attributed to him.

He said: “I did not author, co-author, edit, or in any way contribute to the said article. I have no involvement in its research, investigation, or publication. The inclusion of my name as the writer is erroneous, misleading, and entirely without my consent.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I dissociate myself completely from the content, claims, and allegations contained in that publication. Any appearance of my name in connection with it is purely coincidental and should be disregarded,” he said.

He urged the public, media outlets, and online platforms to take note of the clarification and cease any further attribution of the said article to him.
