A kingmaker in Bauchi Emirate, Sarkin Yakin Bauchi, Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame, also the District Head of Lame, has advocated roles for traditional institutions, strategic leadership, and global partnerships to drive state and national development.
As Bauchi continues to position itself as a center of peace and growth in the North-East, and many efforts in place by the state Government to create new emirates, districts, chiefdoms, stakeholders like Sarkin Yakin Bauchi, have lent their voices in the conversation to harness local and global opportunities for collective progress through genuine investment in agriculture and natural resources.
He said that traditional rulers remain vital pillars of stability, particularly in multi-ethnic societies. He always commended the State Governor, Bala Mohammed and the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Dr. Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu, who also serves as the Chairman of the Bauchi State Council of Emirs, for consistently creating an enabling environment that allows citizens within and outside the state to celebrate their rich cultural heritage during festivals, and pray for peace and stability.
“The Governor in his wisdom and foresight proposed a laudable initiative that will bring people close to their leaders more by more emirates and chiefdoms with districts. Due to the increase in population, expansion of lands and territories, and many other reasons, the governor intends to be fair and just, he told the committee to look into the History of the agitators for new emirates districts.
“To look into their economic sustainability, population, land size and many other in other to be fair to all agitators, take for example in Lame our district was created by Yakubun Bauchi we have old age long History with Bauchi emirate because our Great Grandfather first Sarkin Yakin Bauchi Mamman Kusu created the lame district more than 300 years ago, and two district were created out of Lame District.
“First Jema’a District was created 47 years ago and Toro District over 37 years ago. We have a lot of natural resources in Lame district, apart from agriculture, we have petroleum, gold, tin, lithium, iron, and many other things needed for the growth and development of Nigeria. I am sure creating emirate in Lame will help to explore all these resources that were not explored before, and I believe lame district qualify for everything needed to get a new emirate in terms of History, wealth, population and everything, and we have confident under Governor no injustice will happen, justice will be done to all.”
