The newly appointed State Coordinator, National Population Commission (NPC) Mohammed Isah has emphasized that the success of the 2025 population and housing census exercise depends on collective efforts by all stakeholders in the state.
He solicited for stakeholders’ support for smooth conduct of the exercise throughout 20 local government area councils in the state.
The State Coordinator made this appeal in an interview with journalists on his assumption to office that this year's exercise would be transparent and technological based using a digital biometric system.
He explained that this year exercise would be purely technological base using biometric system unlike the previous census urged people not to panic or fear of the machine during the exercise
He emphasized the need for the government, traditional and religious leaders with other stakeholders to put all hands on deck to sensitize people, particularly literate youth who have the knowledge of computers to be engaged to support during the exercise to achieve 100 percent success.
The coordinator however uses the medium to clarify on the wrong perception of some people who think Census is to go and collect money or taxes, saying "Census is for development and development of the community which greatly helps the country to plan its activities and resources allocations.
He equally solicited for more participation of the general public during the exercise with a view to ensure everyone is covered and counted.
The State Coordinator then assured the citizens of Bauchi that no single community, group, household or individual will be left out or short change in this year 2025 National Population Census exercise.
"We've planned and scheduled familiarization visits to all relevant stakeholders and agencies to poster collaboration and solicit their support towards sensitization and awareness creation especially over the technophobia of our people regarding this year's census.
"We're calling on the general public to come out in Mass and participate fully and ensure everyone is covered and counted so that no one or community would be left out in the exercise.”
