Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has donated N27.5 million to enhance infrastructure at Markazi Ahlissunnah Wal Jama’a Islamic School in Madugu village, Rimin Zayam, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The donation was announced during a Qur’anic graduation ceremony held at the school, where 32 students graduated—nine of whom memorised the entire Holy Qur’an, while the remaining 23 completed the recitation of the 60 Hizb.
Senator Buba pledged N25 million for the construction of a mosque and toilet facilities at the school, responding to specific requests made by the school management. Additionally, he donated N2 million to the graduating students and N500,000 to a teacher who composed a song in his honour.
Speaking at the event, the Senator emphasised the importance of learning and living by the teachings of the Holy Qur’an. He congratulated the students, parents, and teachers, commending their dedication and urging the students to broaden their knowledge beyond religious studies.
"I am an integral part of this school and I am proud to witness the consistent achievements made here every two years during these graduation ceremonies,” Buba said. “It brings me joy to see students memorising the Holy Qur’an and mastering its recitation."
He prayed for Allah’s blessings upon the teachers for their dedication to both education and humanity.
Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, also pledged government support to the school. Represented by the Commissioner of Education, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Rimin Zayam, the Governor promised to complete the construction of additional classrooms and to build a perimeter wall around the school. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to both formal and religious education.
The Katukan Bauchi and District Head of Toro, Alhaji Umar Adamu Toro, expressed gratitude to the Senator and the Governor, lauding their contributions to educational development in the region.
The event attracted community leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers, highlighting widespread support for the school’s mission of Islamic education.
Other notable donations included: AYM Shafa: pledged to construct a block of classrooms, Dr. Abdullahi Dabo: N250,000, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Rimin Zayam: N200,000, Hon. Dano Isma’ila Haruna, Member House of Representatives: N200,000
The Qur’an graduation ceremony served as a celebration of the students’ academic and spiritual accomplishments and reaffirmed the pivotal role of Islamic education in shaping the future of Bauchi State.
