By Rauf Oyewole

As Nigeria celebrated its 64th Independence anniversary, a non-governmental organisation, Child is Gold Foundation, has taken its charity to an orphanage home in Bauchi.

The Foundation, being supported by Ibrahim Baba Inna (IBI) Foundation to commemorate Nigeria's Independence Day has taken issues of children, women and other vulnerable groups as priority.

Team Lead of CIGF, George Ishaya Nuhu said that the project was tagged ‘Orphanage Visit Initiative’ (OVI) which visited The Light Children’s Home to cheer up the kids as a way to show them love and affection regardless of their situation.

George explained that the objective of the event was to put smiles on the faces of the innocent children by gisting, playing, laughing, catching fun, enlightening them on current affairs as far as Nigeria is concerned, also bringing succor and hope to the children in the Orphanage home.

The Foundation distributed relief materials, food items, toiletries among others.

The kids were seen reciting the new National Anthem, engaging in a quiz on current affairs and a dance competition. There were lectures and the cutting of the independence cake.
