Wikki Tourists FC coming out stronger next season —Commissioner

By Rauf Oyewole

Bauchi State owned Wikki Tourists FC has been rebranded to stand as a Club to reckon with in the country as the 2024/2025 football season kicks off in August.

The disclosure was made by the State Commissioner of Youths and Sports, Mohammed Salis Gamawa while answering questions from Sports Writers at NUJ Press Center on Monday.

According to him, "A marketing strategy has been developed for the Wikki Tourists FC which will enable it to stand out in terms of prosecuting its games in the coming season."

The Commissioner expressed optimism that with marketing strategy the Club will bounce back and regain its position in the elite football league in the country.

He lamented some of the issues that stood against the Club before now were related to contracts that were not properly done saying however that all those have been dealt with at the end of the last season.

He reiterated confidence in the Management of the Club to excel in the new season having planned things itself unlike last season when the Management was reconstituted midway.

Muhammad Salis stressed that the plan is to make Wikki Tourists FC a brand that will attract more investment from outside the country as it will play a different brand of football that is well appreciated in the global parlance.

According to him, "By the time the new football season kicks off, all of you will see a brand new Wikki Tourists FC, the brand of football will be entertaining and rewarding. The Club Chairman will have positive stories to tell you if you invite him to come here."

The Commissioner expressed confidence that Wikki Tourists FC will not miss promotion to the elite league at the end of the next football season.
