The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (BOSCHMA), Dr. Saleh Kaza, says the agency’s national recognition for digital innovation reflects five years of hard work, sacrifice and commitment to improving healthcare delivery.
Kaza stated this on Friday in Maiduguri on his return from Abuja, where BOSCHMA received the Distinguished GovTech Trailblazer Award at the 2026 Nigeria GovTech Conference and Awards.
He described the award as a collective achievement of the people of Borno, dedicating the honour to residents and the agency’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) team.
“This is not something that actually started today. It is five years of hard work and sacrifice that made us to be recognised today.
“Borno is going to be in the limelight for good reasons, and we are highly appreciative of that,” he said.
The executive secretary expressed gratitude to God and commended Gov. Babagana Zulum and the Commissioner for Health for their leadership and support, which he said had contributed significantly to the agency’s achievements.
Kaza explained that BOSCHMA had embraced digitalisation to make healthcare services more accessible, efficient and accountable to enrollees.
He said the agency had digitised key operations, including enrolment, customer care, self-enrolment, referrals and financial transactions.
According to him, BOSCHMA has also established a centralised control centre in Maiduguri to provide real-time data from selected healthcare facilities.
He identified the centralised Electronic Health Record system as another major innovation designed to strengthen patient information management and improve service delivery.
Kaza said the award demonstrated that sustained investment in digital governance could produce tangible improvements in public service delivery.
The 2026 Nigeria GovTech Conference and Awards, organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms under the Presidency, held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The conference brought together policymakers, public sector leaders and technology innovators to advance digital transformation in governance.
The Borno State Judiciary also received the Spotlight of Excellence Award for digitalising judicial operations through online courts and electronic filing of cases.
