The Gadi Care Foundation, founded by Hon. Fatima Garba Gadi, has empowered about 100 women and youths in Katagum local government area of Bauchi State as part of efforts to promote self-reliance and improve the economic well-being of community members.
The empowerment programme, held in Azare, the headquarters of Katagum LGA yesterday, saw selected beneficiaries receive various forms of support, including motorcycles, sewing machines, grinding machines, smartphones and financial assistance as start-up capital for small-scale businesses.
Speaking at the event, the founder of the foundation, Hon. Fatima Garba Gadi, said the initiative was driven by her commitment to supporting women and youths by creating opportunities for them to become economically independent.
She said she would continue to support efforts aimed at improving the living conditions of people in the area, particularly through programmes designed to help beneficiaries establish sustainable sources of livelihood.
Gadi congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious and productive use of the items and financial assistance provided to them.
She also appealed to those who were not selected as beneficiaries to remain patient, assuring them that the empowerment programme was not the last, as more opportunities would be provided in the future.
Also speaking, the APC chairman of Katagum local government area, Alhaji Sani Bala, commended Fatima Garba Gadi for what he described as a significant contribution towards empowering members of the community.
He said the initiative would provide succour to the beneficiaries and urged them to utilise the items and financial support for the purposes for which they were provided.
Sani noted that Gadi had established a commendable record of supporting communities in Katagum and its environs, urging her to sustain the momentum and continue with her humanitarian and empowerment initiatives.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Madam Alicia, popularly known as Maman Yara, and Aishatu Muhammad, expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing the support as timely and valuable in helping them improve their livelihoods.
They prayed to Almighty Allah to reward Fatima Garba Gadi abundantly for her generosity and efforts towards improving the lives of members of the community.
