As political activities intensify ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has received 147 decampees from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State.
The decampees formally joined the APM at an event organised on Saturday in honour of the 20 local government coordinators for the gubernatorial and senatorial campaigns of Governor Bala Mohammed and Yakubu Adamu.
Receiving the decampees, the campaign Director Genera and Coordinator of Kaurasiyya AQIDA Organization 2027, Alhaji Mahiru Maiwada Wundi, expressed satisfaction with their decision to join the party.
Wundi assured the new members that the party would work with them to ensure victory for the APM in the forthcoming general elections across the 20 local government areas of the state.
He told the decampees that they would be treated equally with other APM members, describing the party as one family working under a single umbrella.
He further said the APM was different from other political parties where, according to him, the affairs of the party were dictated by an individual.
Earlier, the leader of the decampees from Burra in Ningi LGA said they decided to leave the APC and join the APM based on their personal convictions and the numerous achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed.
He said they believed that if the APM succeeded in the next election, there would be continuity in the state's development rather than a return to what he described as backwardness experienced under the previous administration.
Other party leaders who spoke at the event included the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jamilu Barade; former Chairman of Alkaleri LGA, Alhaji Bello Arabi; and Hon. Nuhu Zaki, among other party dignitaries.
Similarly, the event witnessed a large turnout of APM supporters from across the 20 local government areas of the state, who came out en masse.
